Jordanelle Reservoir is fed and drained primarily by the Provo River, and is impounded by the Jordanelle Dam, an Earthen dam
Jordanelle State Park is located in a picturesque mountain setting near Heber City.

Fishing Description:

Although this newer reservoir is most popular for its great smallmouth bass fishery (with some bass going over four pounds) it also has a healthy population of rainbow trout, brown trout, and yellow perch. Regulations state, however, that the bass limit is six and all bass over 12 inches must be immediately released.

Fishing Tips, Tactics, How-To info:

For smallmouth bass, look for rocky points or submerged structure. Using a jig or minnow-imitating lure near these areas is an effective bass technique. It's heavily stocked with rainbow trout each year, and biological sampling has shown an abundance of yellow perch.
Traditional baits, flies, or lures are used for trout from boats, float tubes, or from shoreline. Regulations for 2004 will allow a limit of 50 perch. Perch also prefer small jigs or active lures tipped with bait.

Facilities and Parks:

The park offers an array of recreation opportunities near the Wasatch Front. Camping, boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking are some of the activities to do at this very popular park. The park offers two recreation areas, Hailstone and Rock Cliff.

Hailstone is a large developed campground and day-use area on the west side of the reservoir, and is a favorite location of boaters and RV campers. Many of our campsites offer water and electric hook-ups. The concession service, Jordanelle Marina, offers boat rentals and other recreation items to complete your trip. Call (435) 655-9919.

Directions to Lake:

Hailstone (main boat ramp) - Take I-80 east to US 40 south, then take the Mayflower exit (#8);
Rock Cliff (nature center) - Take I-80 east to US 40 south, at the traffic light turn left to U 32 east, travel about 7.5 miles then left on Rock Cliff Road.
