Fishing Report Bay Springs Lake Mississippi - 2011-05-04 #16
Water temps are in the upper 60s to low 70s. The bass bite is still good with anglers catching numbers of bass around grass. The best baits to catch numbers are spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and T-rigged lizards. The key for the quality bite is to fish deeper.
The crappie bite this past week has been fair as this spring has been a little weird with the rising and falling water levels. The most successful crappie anglers have been fishing deeper water, hitting secondary points and/or brushtops. Try both minnows and jigs to see what the fish prefer for that day.
A few reports of catfish being caught are coming in on the northern part of the lake around Crow’s Neck and in the divide cut. These fish should be feeding up for the spawn so the bite should continue to improve.
