Fishing Report Lake Mike Connor Mississippi - 2010-08-11 #9
Water temperature: 90deg
Visibilty: 32in
We have added fish attractors to the lake. Try around the outside of the ski buoys. We tried to drop them around there so the fishermen could find them more easily. Fish should be using them now. Go catch em!
Many of the bass that have been caught are small, but good-eating size. Try fishing deep water during mid-day. The shallows can be tried early in the morning and at sunset. Try soft plastics texas rigged or deep-diving crankbaits. Mike Conner is bass crowded so please keep your limit.
Bream fishing is good. The best time to fish is in the morning and late in the afternoon. Bluegill are in the shallows spawning. Red ear are biting as well on red worms and crickets around the piers as well. Also, wax worms work really well. Catfish have started biting really well in the late afternoon. They average about a pound. They are usually good on the shallower flats and points. Try cutbait and worms fished on the bottom. Some small cats were caught last weekend on nightcrawlers.
Crappie fishing is slow right now. No reports last week. Try to find them in the deeper water around the levee or around the new fish attractors. A minnow or a jig should work on the dam or around deep structure. A lake depth map can be found at: http://home.mdwfp.com/pdfgallery.aspx?Albumid=84
