Lake Wallenpaupack is a 5,700 acre lake located in Pike and Wayne counties that is owned and operated by PPL Inc. The lake is around 13 miles in length and about 60 feet at its maximum depth. It is operated as an auxiliary electric generating facility, but it is open to the public for recreation purposes like fishing, boating, waterskiing, camping, hiking, wildlife viewing and nature study. PPL also operates several campgrounds, observation and overlook areas, a wildlife refuge, two natural areas and an Environmental Learning center

Fishing Description:

The lake is a great waterway for fishing. Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, muskellunge, pickerel, yellow perch, trout, striped bass and a variety of panfish are popular sportfish on this waterway. Fish habitat structures have been placed in the lake over the years as part of the Commission's Cooperative Fish Habitat Improvement Program.

Facilities and Parks:

The PA Fish and Boat Commission owns and maintains a boat access area at Mangan Cove, which is located off of State Route 590. Boaters can launch their watercraft from this access area for free. There are also PPL-owned boat access areas at Caffrey, Ironwood Point, Ledgedale and Wilsonville. There is a fee (most recently $5) to launch a boat at these four PPL access areas; the fee is waived for campers.
