Heart Butte Reservoir (Lake Tschida) is located in southwestern North Dakota approximately 15 miles south of Glen Ullin. The lake was created in 1949 when Heart Butte Dam on the Heart River was completed. The dam and reservoir are managed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for downstream flood control and irrigation. Recreation areas around the lake offer fishing, boating, camping, and swimming.

Fishing Description: 

Heart Butte Reservoir has several species of sport fish including catfish, perch, crappie, walleye, white bass, pike, bluegill, and large and smallmouth bass.
