Fishing Description:

Lake Julian has an abundance of bass, catfish, brim and crappie, as well as imported fish called "Tilapia".

Because Lake Julian is a "thermal" lake (the lake is used as a cooling agent for CP&L), some of the best fishing occurs from October through March.

Anglers may fish from the shore or from Johnboats that are available on a rental basis. Patrons must provide their own electric boat motor because gasoline motors are not allowed. N.C. fishing laws are enforced and a local lake permit is required.

Facilities and Parks:

A total of 10 campsites are offered beside the lake. The entrance is off of Hendersonville Road. Each site provides a tent pad area with a table and grill. Also, a bath house is provided with showers and bathroom. The bathhouse is for
guests only and not for public use.

Directions to Lake:

From Asheville take 26 East and take Exit #37 - turn left on to Long Shoals Road and travel 1.1 mile - turn right on to Overlook Ext. and travel .1 mile - see park entrance on the left. It is located at 75 Long Shoals Road.
