Rye Patch Dam and Reservoir are on the Humboldt River about 26 miles upstream from Lovelock, Nevada.

The Dam, constructed in 1935-36 and enlarged in 1976, is 78 feet high with a crest length of 1,074 feet. The dam is a major feature of the Humboldt Project. Surface area of approximately 12,000 acres at full reservoir storage.

Fishing Description:

Fishing season is year-round. Warm-water fishery with game species including white bass, walleye, white crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, brown bullhead, and channel catfish.

Fishing for crappie, wipers, white bass, channel catfish, black bass and walleye is usually best in spring and early summer, with fall being a good season for catfish.

Most angler's use worms or liver for catfish, minnows for wipers and jigs for crappie, walleye and bass.

Bring your own bait since it often is not available in the area. A Nevada fishing license is required.

Facilities and Parks:

Camping is first come/first basis. Camping is $10.00 per night per vehicle OR $14.00 with a boat. No hook-ups available. There also three group areas that can be reserved for an additional $20 per night plus entrance fee per vehicle. The river campground below the dam has 22 units, a restroom with flush toilets, and hot showers. The campground on the reservoir's west side has 25 units, a restroom with flush toilets and hot showers. There are also undeveloped campsites along the reservoir that can be reached by boat or primitive roads. Camping is allowed in these areas unless otherwise posted.

Recreational Vehicle Dump Station: A sanitary dump station with potable water is located on the dam's west side.

Boat Ramp:

A double-lane boat ramp and a dock are located next to the campground on the reservoir's west side. A single-lane boat ramp and restroom are located 10 miles north at Pitt Taylor remote camping area. Pit Taylor can be accessed via Exit 138 of Hwy 80. Water is not available at Pit Taylor.
