Nebraska's newest large reservoir and the site of a major fish hatchery, Calamus offers prime fishing and camping in the heart of the Sandhills, 6 miles NW of Burwell.

Fishing Description: 

Fishing season is year round. Available species include walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, and crappie.

Camping: 

Calamus State Recreation Area has modern campgrounds have 122 pads with 30/50 amp electrical hookups, plus 55 non-pad sites, modern restrooms, showers, dump station and water.

Boat Rental: 

5 boat ramps at Calamus State Recreation Area.

Other: 

2 fish cleaning stations.

Located 5 miles northwest of Burwell. Nearest highway, Nebraska 91.
