Are you looking for a pretty little trout lake without having to hike to the top of some mountain? Consider scenic little Sylvia Lake, located about 21 miles due west of Whitefish (as a crow flies). Sylvia Lake is 23 acres and nestled by tall trees, even the very name Sylvia means “forest”.

Fishing Description: 

The lake has been stocked with cutthroat trout and grayling.

Fishing Tips, Tactics, How-To info: 

The grayling fishing can be red hot on some days with the critters readily taking spinners, worms or small dry flies.

Facilities and Parks: 

There is a pleasant little picnic area by the lake.

Camping: 

There is a small, rustic campground by the lake.

Boat Ramp: 

You can drive right to the lake and there is a new access site that allows easy launching of canoes or rowboats. There is no drive-down boat launch.

Directions to Lake: 

To access the lake, drive to Star Meadows and then continue on the gravel road along Sheppard Creek (road 113). Travel about 6 miles and turn left at the sign directing you to Sylvia Lake.
