Rough River Lake is a 5,100-acre (21 km2) lake in Breckinridge, Grayson, and Hardin counties in Kentucky. It was impounded from the Rough River in 1959 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. It is the primary attraction of Rough River Dam State Resort Park.

Fishing Description:

Large numbers of hybrid striped bass are over 15 inches. Many trophy fish are available. Fish the upper lake areas in spring and main lake (Dam to Tules Creek on north fork and Dam to Little Clifty Creek on south fork) for summer jumps. Troll the main lake points in summer and fall. Tailwater is good for fishing in spring (April).

There are good numbers of channel catfish with lower numbers of flathead catfish, but trophy fish available. Tailwater fishing is good in early summer. Fish the upper lake areas in early spring and moderately steep rocky banks during mid May-June for spawning fish.

The number of 9-11 inch crappie decreased somewhat in 2006 but a large increase in the number of 6-8 inch fish was seen. Average size was down in 2007, but will improve. Many crappie are caught in tailwater in early spring.

Good numbers of largemouth bass are caught in the 12-15 inch and the 15-inch and larger size groups. A stable population exists with numbers in all size ranges similar over last several years.
