Canton Lake is a 250 acre inland lake located 2 miles east of Canton. It is known for its trophy sized largemouth bass and its abundant channel catfish.

The lake's major fish species are largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, yellow bass, channel catfish, carp, and gizzard shad. The City of Canton has various user fees for boat use and a 85 horse power motor limit.

The lake had a large number of channel catfish, largemouth bass, and tiger muskie stocked over the last decade.

Fishing Description: 

While the numbers of largemouth bass in the lake are only average, the size of the bass is very good. Most fisherman can expect to find bass over 12 inches (1 to 2 pounds) and there are some in the 4 to 8 pound range.

There is a high density of channel and blue catfish, but they remain on the small size with few nearing 3 pounds.

Tiger muskie are available in the lake, but there are few that get to larger sizes.

The main forage base of Canton Lake is gizzard shad and would also be a very good bait for catfishing in this lake.
