Are ther any other peacock bass species in Florida other than the butterfly?
There are other species in the amazon that seem to get a lot bigger than the ones here. If there are none, would they survive? Or is it an environmental concern, to purposely introduce another "invasive" species..I know the butterfly peacocks were stocked here in S, Florida in the 80's to control other unwanted species...Just wondering.
I would like to know why you thing the butterfly should not have been introduced. As far as I can tell, they haven't had any adverse effect on the ecosystem, and the were stocked by the state to counter the introduction of other exotic speicies (spotted talapia, oscars, mayan cichlid)

There are only the butterfly. Other species should not be introduced (and actually the butterfly should not have been either), but what is done is done.
