Lake Harris is a lake in Lake County, Florida, United States. Its shape resembles China from the air. The lakes' northeastern shore is a landing zone of planes at the Leesburg Municipal Airport. It is a harbor city for Leesburg, at the northwestern shore of the lake. A neighboring lake, Little Lake Harris, east of SR 19, is a smaller version of the lake. At the westernmost point of the lake is U.S. Route 27/SR 25. The road adjoins the lake to the east.

The lake is ringed with Kissimmee grass and reeds, except for the occasional boat, dock, or seawall. The depth in the grass normally ranges from 2-5 feet. The bottom is mostly hard sand except for some shallow marshy areas where the bottom is soft mud. These areas also offer a good place to fish during inclement weather.

Fishing Description:

Largemouth bass fishing is productive along deepwater edges of vegetation and in canals. Bass are hitting topwater plugs, plastic worms and crankbaits. Black crappie are biting well on minnows below the Highway 19 bridge and while drifting the open water areas of the lake.

"I have been fishing the lake for about 6 years pretty much on a daily bases if it's not rain when I get ready to go. I caught most of my Bass on 7in. black worm,no weight on it. Let it sink on its own, leave about a miniute. raise tip of pole straight up,then drop back down take up slack in line, then do it again and watch for the line to straighten out, set the hook and hold on till the ride ends. "

"The larger bass you just have to torment the hell out of. I have landed my biggers 13.5 but I have lost some monsters. I have found out to take a dip net with 4ft. pole just in case. It's important! anouther good lure to is StrikeKing KVD shallow runner "Fire Tiger" color and the Louisana shad made by Bandit two great lures. Facilities and Parks:

Access to the lake is from Singletary Park on the outskirts of Leesburg on U.S. Hwy 27, at a City of Leesburg boat ramp in Venetian Gardens off of SR 44 (Dixie Avenue), at the Hickory Point recreational area ($2.00 fee per vehicle) on SR 19 south of Tavares, and in Astatula at a ramp on Florida Avenue west of C.R. 561. Lake Harris Lodge (352-343-4111) is a fish camp located on Lake Harris off of US Hwy 19 south of Tavares, and Palm Gardens (352-343-2024) is located on US Hwy 441 near Tavares.
