Catching More Trout With Powerbait
If you spend any time at all fishing for freshwater trout you are probably aware of the fact that Powerbait is an excellent choice when it comes to trout fishing bait. This is especially true when you are attempting to catch stocked (or planted) trout in a lake or pond. In this article I will outline a few Powerbait tips that will aide you in catching more trout when fishing with this unique trout bait.
An important thing to point out about Powerbait is the fact that it floats. In other words if you scoop some Powerbait out of the jar that it comes in and throw it into the water, it floats on the top of the water. The reason for this is that when you use this unique trout bait on a bottom rig, it will float off of the bottom. This means that your bait will not only be within easy sight of the trout you are attempting to catch, but it will also be floating above any underwater debris that might be present in the area that you are fishing.
When it comes to Powerbait tips the first question that many trout fishermen ask is "What is the best color Powerbait to use?" I have been using Powerbait to fish for trout for more than two decades and in that time I have learned that the answer to this question is, "there is no best color to use when it comes to Powerbait". The best color will vary from fishing trip to fishing trip. You simply never know what the trout are going to prefer on a particular day, so I always have 2-3 different colors of Powerbait with me and experiment until I figure out what the trout prefer on a particular day.
The next tip is to make sure you keep your scent off (the human scent) of the Powerbait as much as possible. This means touching your Powerbait as little as possible when baiting your hook, which can be quite difficult. One of the best Powerbait tips you will ever get in regard to touching the Powerbait itself is to use a Powerbait press. This unique piece of fishing tackle gives you the ability to bait your hook with Powerbait (or any similar trout bait) without actually touching the bait itself. Being able to bait your hook (or hooks) without having to touch your dough bait helps to keep the human scent off of your bait, this is extremely advantageous as a trout fisherman and a wonderful Powerbait tip.
These simple Powerbait tips will help you to catch more trout on your next trout fishing excursion when using this unique trout bait. Add these tips to your fishing arsenal sooner, rather than later.
